What You Should Know About Geckos
Geckos are small lizards that belong to Gekkota, an infraorder of reptiles in the Scleroglossa group of lizards. They have been around for more than 100 million years. Geckos first originated from North Africa and unknowingly were carried by humans onto Southern France, and continuously reached all over the world. Geckos can usually be found in urban areas, within houses, trees, mountains, and deserts. They reside all over the place in different habitats. Their average size ranges between 6 to 10 inches in length. They have thin legs, short stout bodies, large heads, large unblinking eyes, and vary in skin colors.
More and more people today are becoming fascinated with these creatures, which is why geckos today are one of the most common pets in the world. Their calm and gentle nature makes it easier for people to take care of them. They rarely bite people unless threatened or under stress. They are nocturnal species which is why during the day you can find them in the corner sleeping, while during the evenings when they are most active.
