Eau De Toilette Spray – What You Need To Know

Eau de toilette is a term in French that translates to “water for grooming.” It has a little fragrance to it. It’s high in alcohol content and aroma. Hence, it goes by the name “aromatic water” as well.

It is typically used post-shower or post-shave as an after-skin application.

There are a number of volatile oils and alcohol in the classic recipe, such as “Eau de Bretfeld,” the spirit of Myrcia, violet water, lilac water, lavender water, and Geranium water.

Eau de Toilette Spray vs. Perfume – What’s The Difference

The concentration of fragrance oils, price, durability, and intended use are the major distinctions between eau de toilette and standard perfume.

The upper layers of perfume will have anything from 5 to 15% actual perfume essence. It takes three hours for the scent to fade away completely. Alternatively, because of the 20% concentration of fragrant oils in Eau de perfume, its aroma will persist on the wearer for five to eight hours.

Keep in mind that a “pure perfume” will contain as much as 40% aromatic oils, and the fragrance may last for 24 hours. Because of its higher dilution, eau de toilette is less expensive compared to pure perfume, and most people tend to use it liberally.

While the higher price tag of perfume or pure perfume may put some off, the decreased alcohol content makes them suitable for sensitive skin while still imparting a lingering, persistent aroma.

Eau de Toilette – Is It For Men or Women?

Either sex can use Eau de toilette. Typically, cologne is marketed as a men’s fragrance, while perfume is marketed to women. Perfumes are often categorized by the volume of perfume oil, the number of notes in the fragrance, and the substances used.

Popular eau de toilette brands for men include Acqua Di Gio and Nautica Voyage, while Chanel Chance and Cool Water are popular brands for women. Nonetheless, there remain unisex brands like Black Orchid and CK All.
