Characteristics Of Good Fish Food

Some people are picky eaters, and so are fish. Therefore, it is very important to choose good fish food. The problem is that it is often difficult to tell the difference between good and bad fish food. So, let’s look at the characteristics of good fish food.

1. Nice smell

The good feed has a natural smell of fish and shrimp, while the poor quality feed has a lot of flour and smells of spices. As for the kind that smells sour or smelly, it is the worst.

2. Not easily soluble

The good feed can stay in water for a long time and will not dissolve on the shelves, while poor quality feed will dissolve quickly, and even the water will become the color of the feed.

3. Non-greasy

When good feed is put in water, the water will still be clear, while poor feed will make the water very greasy. What’s worse, maybe the feed is made of gutter oil.

4. Small size

The smaller the feed, the easier it is to digest, and the less likely the fish is to lose their swim bladder.

5. Does not swell

Poor quality feed is easy to swell when exposed to water, and fish are prone to indigestion or enteritis, and may even die from eating.

6. Good hydrophilicity

The feed should be high in protein and low in fat, that is, low in oiliness. Low oiliness will be more hydrophilic, easy to combine with water, and easy to be digested and absorbed by fish.
