1. First things first, you’ll need a home – and it’s got to be cat friendly!
This means making sure there are no small holes or gaps around the house that could lead to your cat venturing outside or into cupboards or other rooms in your home. If you have a cat flap fitted, make sure it can only be accessed from inside the house so that your pet is safe. You’ll also want to make sure there are places for them to hide out and sleep like a bed or a basket.
2. Litter trays and litter
Make sure you have somewhere for your cat to do their business. It’s not nice if you’ve decided to get a cat and then find out that your litter box isn’t being used. Choose a litter tray with a lid as it will be easier for your cat to stay clean and they won’t have to spend hours searching for the right toilet hole. A good size should be 10-15cm deep and 20cm wide.
